Fontaines D.C. Romance Album Lyrics
Romance is the fourth studio album by Irish rock band Fontaines D.C. released on 23 August 2024 through XL Recordings.
The album is produced by James Ford. Grian Chatten told Mojo that they never had time to write music instead okay it out sometimes to him as a spiritual work while touring.
From the frenetic, panic-attack-inspired “Starburster” to the sweet “Favourite” and the anthemic “Here’s the Thing”, what we’ve heard so far from Fontaines D.C.’s fourth album, Romance, has showcased surprising new sides to the Dublin five-piece. And that’s exactly what they wanted this album to do.
“You start making music, you get a name for yourself as a certain brand in music or type of music that you’re making, and you get clubbed in with other bands,” Fontaines’ Conor Deegan III told Zane Lowe. “We realised there was so much more we wanted to express, but also things we were afraid of expressing, not just musically, but the way we dressed as well. When we had that conversation and realised that we were all on that same page, we said, ‘You know what? Let’s do it. Let’s not be afraid of this and push ourselves.’”
Alongside that expansion, you can expect an album which, as its title suggests, explores “what romance or sentimentality or freedom really mean to us in different aspects of our character as a band, but also in our lives as people—be it family or friends or anything like that,” said Deegan.
